Small adjustments in the workplace mean big improvements for neurodiverse workers

With the help of an EU-funded project, Juha was able to find effective ways of coping with his autism at work.

Juha, who has autism, was finding it difficult to hold down a job. Ongoing stigma surrounding his condition meant that it was hard to get hired in the first place. And without on-the-job support, he was also finding it difficult to perform to the best of his abilities. Thanks to an EU-funded project called DigiNepsy, Juha was able to find effective ways of coping with his disorder. He discovered that noise-cancelling headphones had a hugely positive impact. As a result, he is now flourishing. By promoting assistive technologies and raising awareness of how such neurocognitive disorders can be easily addressed, the project is helping to promote equality and inclusion in the workplace.
