Rita Bonnici, a single mother from Malta, always dreamed of opening her own beauty salon. Having studied beauty and wellness, she felt that she had the skills, but lacked the financial means to set up her own business. It frustrated her though, that she was unable to provide for her family as she would have liked. The EU-funded project LEAP helped Rita out of this tight spot by providing mentoring and business advice. The scheme also allowed her to apply for financial assistance. This helped Rita to open her salon and put into practice her passion and skills. Rita is now able to contribute meaningfully to her community, earning an income that provides for her family.
